If used to treat cold sores, Cyclovir is usually applied 5 times per day, every 3 to 4 hours, for 4 days, unless directed otherwise by your physician.
Squeeze enough cream for a thin layer onto the skin area you wish to treat, and then gently massage it into your skin. Always wash your hands well and dry, both before and after applying Cyclovir.
Cyclovir should be applied to the skin only, and never to the eyes, inside the nose, mouth or vagina. If any cream gets in these areas, you should wash it with water.
Patients using Cyclovir to treat genital herpes are advised to wear rubber gloves when applying it, so as to avoid spreading the infection.

If you miss a dose of Cyclovir and you still have a headache, follow your doctor's dosing instructions. Do not take Cyclovir more often than prescribed. Do not take 2 doses at once.
