Aciclovir should be applied to the skin only, and never to the eyes, inside the nose, mouth or vagina. If any cream gets in these areas, you should wash it with water.
Patients using Aciclovir to treat genital herpes are advised to wear rubber gloves when applying it, so as to avoid spreading the infection.
